Kant: The Universal Law Formation Of The Categorical Imperative :: essays research papers

Kant: the Universal Law Formation of the Categorical Imperative Kantian way of thinking traces the Universal Law Formation of the Clear cut Imperative as a technique for deciding profound quality of activities. This recipe is a two section test. Initial, one makes a saying and thinks about whether the adage could be an all inclusive law for every single reasonable being. Second, one decides regardless of whether balanced creatures would will it to be an all inclusive law. When it is clear that the proverb breezes through the two prongs of the assessment, there are no special cases. As a paramedic confronted with a distressed widow who asks whether her late spouse endured in his unplanned demise, you should choose which proverb to make and in light of the test which activity to perform. The saying "when noting a widow's request with regards to the nature and term of her late spouses passing, one ought to continuously come clean with respect to the idea of her late spouse's death" (M1) passes the two pieces of the Universal Law Formation of the Categorical Imperative. Therefore, as per Kant, M1 is an ethical activity. The underlying phase of the Universal Law Formation of the Categorical Basic necessitates that a saying be generally relevant to all sound creatures. M1 prevails with regards to passing the principal stage. We can without much of a stretch envision a world in which paramedics consistently answer widows honestly when questioned. Hence, this proverb is intelligent and everybody can keep it without causing a coherent difficulty. The following legitimate advance is to apply the second phase of the test. The subsequent prerequisite is that a sound being would will this proverb to become a general law. In testing this part, you should choose whether in each case, a normal being would accept that the ethically right activity is to tell reality. In the first place, obviously the widow hopes to know reality. An untruth would possibly serve to save her emotions on the off chance that she trusted it to be reality. In this way, even individuals who might think about deceiving her, must yield that the right and expected activity is to come clean. By asking she has as of now chosen, positive or negative, that she should know reality. Imagine a scenario where coming clean carries the widow to where she. ends it all, be that as it may? Is coming clean with her then an ethical activity in spite of the fact that its result is this horrendous reaction? On the off chance that coming clean with the widow drives her to end it all, it appears as though no balanced being would will the adage to turn into a widespread law. The self destruction is, be that as it may, a result of your starting activity. The self destruction has no bearing, at any rate for the Categorical Kant: The Universal Law Formation Of The Categorical Imperative :: papers look into papers Kant: the Universal Law Formation of the Categorical Imperative Kantian way of thinking diagrams the Universal Law Formation of the Absolute Imperative as a technique for deciding ethical quality of activities. This recipe is a two section test. Initial, one makes a proverb and thinks about whether the adage could be a general law for every single levelheaded being. Second, one decides regardless of whether reasonable creatures would will it to be a general law. When it is clear that the proverb finishes the two prongs of the assessment, there are no exemptions. Thusly, as indicated by Kant, M1 is an ethical activity. The underlying phase of the Universal Law Formation of the Categorical Basic necessitates that a proverb be all around appropriate to all judicious creatures. M1 prevails with regards to passing the primary stage. We can without much of a stretch envision a world in which paramedics consistently answer widows honestly when questioned. Along these lines, this saying is sensible and everybody can maintain it without causing an intelligent inconceivability. The following coherent advance is to apply the second phase of the test. In the event that coming clean with the widow drives her to end it all, it appears as though no objective being would will the adage to turn into an all inclusive law. The self destruction is, notwithstanding, a result of your starting activity. The self destruction has no bearing, in any event for the Categorical

Goals of a leadership essay Millions of students question themselves about how to write a essay on leadership. First of all, you need to define what is leadership essay and what purpose it has. Understanding this point will bring you closer to success. This type of essay usually makes two things: defines a leadership, and shows the author in a leadership position. Of course, its pretty hard to write this essay if you didnt do it before, but we are going to dive deeper in writing and review the main points of creating this paper. At the start, you have to define what is leadership. Its obvious that a leader is a person with strong personal characteristics that can motivate and influence other people to achieve aims. You may think how to write a good leadership essay when you have nothing to write about, you are just a student that didnt have any work experience to show your leader qualities. Its not necessary to write about work! Here are some ideas you can bring to your essay: Define a leadership, and discuss characteristics a good leader must have. Create a work about leadership styles. Make an essay about some person you can call a leader. Write about a famous person who has a strong leadership. Make a work about your own skills in leadership, and how you are going to develop these skills in the future. Making a structure of your future paper Your paper should be written according to the certain structure. We suggest organizing your future work in accordance with this scheme: Introduction – this part shouldnt be very long, here you need to introduce to readers the topic of your paper and also bring the main idea of your work (thesis statement). Even if you write about another person on leader position, you need to explain why you think he or she is a leader and analyze what kind of characteristics of the leadership you have got. We want to share more tips that will help you to make a strong and interesting paper: Your writing should be focused on you. Of course, as we said above, you can mention some other leaders and describe their personal characteristics, but dont forget to mention about your own leadership. Try to be honest. You can be creative and artsy, but never try to lie about yourself. We suggest writing only truthful things, even if it may seem to you not so great as you want. Write only about those skills you are going to discuss and describe in your essay. You may bring a long list of leadership characteristics, but then explain only a couple of them in your essay. Make sure you listed only those you are going to write about. Your essay should be logical. Dont jump from one thing to another suddenly; try to make transition sentences to connect various paragraphs. Your work should sound like an entire story, but not like a set of different paragraphs gathered into the one story. This type of essay can be written from the first person. Its a work about you, so its normal to make it personal. Good examples of a leadership essay When you are thinking about your future paper about leadership, its good to find and read other leadership essays on the Internet. Of course, we dont want you to copy those papers, but you may get a lot of new ideas about your own writing. You can analyze other authors essays to see how they built their papers, and how they created all parts of their works. Reading develops your writing skills too, so its very useful! Here we would like to share an example of a leadership paper. What does it mean to be a good leader? This is a person that can gather a group of people to work and operate in the one team to reach their goals. Of course, not every person is born to be a leader, but I think we all are able to develop leadership characteristics. In school, I was always a shy person, so its not possible to say I had any strong leadership abilities. But it changed with time. While studying, English lessons were my favorite. I always dreamed to attend professional courses, but my family couldnt afford to pay for additional studying. Ive got an idea to organize an English club in school. At the beginning, it seemed to me a weak idea I wouldnt be able to do, but my desire to do it was stronger of any fears inside. I informed my teacher about it, and it took a lot of time. Of course, I got a lot of support and help from the school, teachers, even some parents. They helped to make a plan, define what things we need, solve organizations things. As for now, we have our own English club in my school, It works three times per week, and everyone can come and join after lessons. We share our writing experience, discuss various movies and books, learn the history of English language, do various interesting things all together. I never thought I would be able to get so much leadership experience doing these things. Of course, it was hard to leave my comfort zone on the beginning but eventually, I reached my goal! I became a leader of our English club and developed many skills I didnt have before. Our club has many new goals, and I hope we will be able to achieve them because we are a strong team! We truly hope that our tips for writing a leadership essay were useful, and you created a strong and brilliant paper to impress your readers. Writing successful essay requires a lot of patience, time, and skills. You can only develop your writing skills during making various essays, so we wish you to create a lot of good works to improve yourself!

7 Back to School Tips for Teachers

Going back to school after the summer break can be exciting, nerve-racking, and hectic for teachers. The summertime is a time for refreshment and renewal. That is important as the beginning of the school year is the most critical time of the year and it can also be the most stressful. Even during the time off, most teachers are looking for ways to improve their class for the upcoming year. Going back to school gives teachers a chance to make small adjustments or significant changes depending on where they are at in their careers. Most veteran teachers have a pretty decent idea of what they need to do to get ready for the new school year. They typically plan to make a few minor tweaks to their overall approach. Younger teachers may totally revamp their approach to how they teach based on their small sample of experience. First-year teachers often come in excited and with no real idea of what it takes to teach. They have ideas that they think will work only to realize quickly that the application of those ideas is much more difficult than the theory of them. No matter where a teacher is in their career, here are some tips that will help them transition back to school quickly and effectively. Reflect on the Past Experience is the ultimate learning tool. First-year teachers will only have their limited experience as a student teacher on which they can rely. Unfortunately, this small sample does not provide them with much information. Veteran teachers will tell you that you learn more in the first few weeks as a teacher than you did during your entire time in a teacher education program. For teachers with at least one year of experience, reflecting on the past can be a valuable tool. Great teachers are constantly looking for new ideas and methods to apply to their classroom. You should never be afraid to try a new approach, but understand that sometimes it works, sometimes it needs tweaking, and sometimes it will need to be thrown out altogether. Teachers must rely on their experiences when it comes to all aspects of their classroom. A teacher must allow experiences, both good and bad, to guide their overall approach to teaching. It Is a New Year Never come into a school year or classroom with preconceived notions. Every student who walks into your classroom deserves the chance to come in with a clean slate. Teachers may pass along pertinent educational information such as standardized test scores to the next teacher, but they should never pass along information about how a particular student or class behaves. Every class and every student is unique, and a different teacher may get other behavior. A teacher who has preconceived notions can be detrimental to the overall development of a particular student or a group of students. Teachers should want to make judgments about a student or a group of students based on their own unique experiences with them and not those from another teacher. Sometimes a teacher can have a personality conflict with a particular student or class and you never want that to cloud how the next teacher handles their class. Set Goals Every teacher should have a set of expectations or goals that they want their students to reach. Teachers should also have a list of personal goals to improve in specific areas of weakness that they have. Having goals of any kind will give you something to work towards. It is also okay to set goals together with your students. Having a shared set of goals will push both teacher and students to work harder to obtain those goals. It is okay that goals be adjusted either way as the year moves along. Sometimes your goals may be too easy for a particular student or class and sometimes they may be too difficult. It is essential that you set high goals and expectations for all your students. Just remember that every student has their own unique needs. The goals you set for one student, may not be applicable for another. Be Prepared Being prepared is the most important aspect of teaching. Teaching is not an 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. job as many people outside the realm of teaching may  think. It takes a lot of extra time and preparation to do your job effectively. The first day of school for students should never be a teacher’s first day. It takes a lot of time to get ready for school to start. There is a lot of work that needs to be done with both your classroom and your instructional material. A smooth year begins with preparation. A teacher who waits until the last moment to get everything ready is setting themselves up for a rough year. Young teachers need more preparation time than veteran teachers, but even veteran teachers must spend quite a bit of time preparing for the upcoming school year if they plan to have a fantastic year. Set the Tone The first few days and weeks of school will often set the tone for the entire school year. Respect is often won or lost in those first few days and weeks. A teacher should seize that opportunity to establish a solid rapport with their students, but at the same time respectively show them who is in charge. A teacher who comes in with the mindset that they want every student to like them will lose respect quickly, and it will be a difficult year. It is virtually impossible to gain a classes respect as an authoritarian back once you have lost it. Use those first few days and weeks to drill components such as procedures, expectations, and goals. Start out hard as the classroom disciplinarian and then you can ease off as you move throughout the year. Education is a marathon and not a sprint. Do not think that you cannot spend the time to set the tone for the school year. Make these things a priority early and your students will learn more in the long run. Make Contact Getting parents to trust that you have their child’s best interest in mind is paramount. Make extra efforts to contact parents several times within the first few weeks of school. In addition to classroom notes or newsletters, try to contact each parent personally early on by setting up parent meetings, calling them on the phone, emailing them, conducting a home visit, or inviting them up for an open room night. Establishing trustworthy relationships with parents early on when things are going good will make it easier should you begin to have issues. Parents can be your biggest ally, and they can be your biggest enemy. Investing the time and effort early on to win them to your side will make you more effective. Plan Ahead All teachers should plan ahead. It is not easy, but planning does become easier as experience is gained. For example, a teacher can save lots of time by keeping lesson plans from the previous year so that they can use them for the upcoming year. Instead of redeveloping their lesson plans, they make adjustments to them as needed. Teachers can also make copies for several weeks or months of work before school begins. Planning events such as fundraisers and field trips before school starts will save time later. Planning ahead will be beneficial if an emergency occurs and you have to be gone for an extended period of time. Planning also tends to make the overall course of the school year go smoother.

Man and Nature in Stephen Cranes The Blue Hotel and The...

Man and Nature in The Blue Hotel and The Open Boat Stephen Crane uses a massive, ominous stove, sprawled out in a tiny room and burning with god-like violence, as a principal metaphor to communicate his interpretation of the world. Full of nearly restrained energy, the torrid stove is a symbol of the burning, potentially eruptive earth to which humans cling and of which they are a part. As a literary naturalist, Crane interpreted reality from a Darwinian perspective, and saw the earth driven by adamant natural laws, violent and powerful laws which are often hostile to humans and their societies, and he conceived of humans as accidents, inhabiting a harsh, irrational, dangerous world. Cranes famous depiction of the†¦show more content†¦In The Open Boat, Crane writes of the EXPERIENCE OF FOUR MEN FROM THE SUNK STEAMER COMMODORE (743). Having escaped the sunken ship, the four men--the cook, the correspondent, the oiler, and the captain--are now in a dinghy sailing obstinately in the midst of a seething ocean for the coast of Florida. From the beginning of the story till the end, one can admire these honest men, who confront such a dangerous environment. One passage that comes early in the story shows their honest acceptance of reality: A singular disadvantage of the sea lies in the fact that after successfully surmounting one wave you discover that there is another behind it just as important and just as nervously anxious to do something effective in the way of swamping boats (744). Passages like this one in which the characters personify nature in a negative way abound in this story. Of course, no wave is nervously anxious, but this interpretation of reality--as opposed to the interpretation that the characters of The Blue Hotel give--is one that actually attempts to point out some truth about dangerous nature; the men, in their human way, are accepting nature as it is. Alcohol Problems and the Family Life Cycle Essay Example For Students

Alcohol Problems and the Family Life Cycle Essay I feel that alcohol causes problems not only to the user/drinker but also to their spouses, children, and other family members. Problem drinking can change the roles played by family members in relation to one another and the relationships that surround them. As a family member develops this problem, the drinker may fail to perform his or her functions as a breadwinner, to the support their children or to complete chores. These things get done by another person, often times, the spouse. However, a child may be forced to take on adult roles and responsibilities depriving them of their childhood. The child, may, (like the non-drinking spouse) feel that he or she is to blame for the problems the family. The drinker’s behavior usually becomes unpredictable and disruptive making it difficult for the family to plan activities in advance or to stick to routines. The unpredictable, disruptive behavior of the drinker maybe embarrassing to them. The family may have a difficult time explaining to others the real reasons for what is happening in the family setting and out of the family setting. Domestic violence a nd alcohol are often associated. Drinking is not necessary for domestic violence to occur; however, many abusers are either alcoholics or under the influence of alcohol at the time of the abuse. The child may experience various forms of neglect and feel abandoned by both parents. Alcohol problems vary in nature and in severity. Therefore, how badly a child is affected by the problems depend on the child’s age. A child under five is more vulnerable to poor or lack of physical care and nurturance; on the other hand, the older child may be more susceptible to psychological damage. Of course the younger child can also suffer from psychological damage. Children of problem drinking parents are at increased risk of problems during their childhood. They can show anti-social behavior, emotional problems, and problems at school. Children of problem drinking parents are at risk of problems, but not all children experience problems at the same level. Some do not appear to experience any problems even while they are children, let alone as adults. Some of the factors influencing the higher chances of a child experiencing problems are: violence, marital conflict, separation, divorce and loss of a parent, inconsistency in parenting. So, you see, alcohol can affect the family and the development of the family in many ways. The development can be stunted or stopped until the alcohol user gets help. And until, the family recognizes that this alcohol use is a problem, the cycle of the break down of the family unit will be perpetuated.

Legal Immigration versus Illegal Immigration in America

Introduction Immigration occurs when people from a different area come to settle to another area already inhabited by the natives. People migrate from their home areas to other areas because of many factors which are usually called push factors. Push factors are those factors which motivate a person to move from their country of origin.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Legal Immigration versus Illegal Immigration in America specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Migration can be subdivided into various groups which include economic migration. In this case, people move from their country of origin to the desired country because they are looking for higher wages. Other factors which determine immigration are the accompanying costs. These costs include transportation costs, costs related to work time and loss of family and social bond. A person cannot migrate to another country if these costs are too high. The inc rease in technology especially in the transport sector has decreased the travel time across land and seas. This in turn has decreased the cost which makes migration less tedious. People can also migrate due to employment reasons such as in a contract, or due to religious reasons like missionaries. Diplomatic missions can also cause persons to migrate. These reasons are the ones which cause legal and illegal immigration in which their difference is demystified in this paper. It is worth noting that many people like to immigrate to America for economic reasons. Due to inhibiting factors, some end up using illegal channels, hence the term illegal immigration. If the correct channel is used the process becomes legal immigration. Legal immigration in America Legal immigration occurs when the person who is moving from their country of origin uses the correct bureaucracy to gain entry into the desired country of destination. In the United States of America, legal immigrants are those peopl e who have passed interviews in the American embassies located in their country of origin. Other ways in which a person can immigrate legally to the U.S are through diplomatic missions, work contracts and religious activities among many others. A native of a particular country can also qualify to immigrate to America if they win a green card in the green card lottery.Advertising Looking for research paper on administrative law? Legal migration is good for America because they are more likely to be law abiding, legal immigration brings the best skills from other countries, pay into the American’s social security system, and so forth. The federal government has been able to enact policies which give legal immigrants basic rights just as the legal citizens of United States of America. This is because they passed through a tedious process of getting the visas or green cards, a process which is vital for them to get legal documents. The high skills and difference in culture, which are normally brought in by legal immigrants results in scientific and cultural achievements. Thus, the U.S has been able to benefit by tapping into these advantages. Effects of legal immigration in America Legal immigrants bring with them new skills which are needed in the American economy. The process of legal immigration is accompanied with competition in the labor market which. They bring with them cultural diversities. The process comes with scientific achievements. Legal immigrants also participate actively in the labor force[1]. The wages of some of the labor especially in the agricultural sector are usually extremely low. This is often rejected by the Native American because they are unattractive. Legal immigrants can offer such labor with these wages[2]. Illegal immigration in America Illegal immigration is the illegitimate entry into U.S of individuals who are not citizens of America. An illegal immigrant can also be a person who has an expired visa because he continued living in the host country due to various reasons. Some of them do not want to go back to their home country because they will be faced with an uncertain economic future, for political asylum[3] or if married to an American spouse would not want to be separated from the their family by being deported. These people are legal immigrants but their illegality comes due to the fact that they overstayed their temporal legality (Haines Rosenblum 1999, pp2). Effects of illegal immigration to America There are several negative effects brought about by illegal immigration in the United States of America. The problems are related to crime, diseases, problems in the education sector, housing and medical expenses. The following are some of the negative effects of illegal immigrationAdvertising We will write a custom research paper sample on Legal Immigration versus Illegal Immigration in America specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Unemployment: aliens cause unemployment rates to increase. The unemployment directly affects the legal citizens of the U.S. According to available records, it is purported that, if all illegal immigrants would lose the jobs they are currently holding, all legal American citizens would be employed. This problem is brought about because the aliens offer cheap labor. Cost for tax payers: aliens make up as much as 28% in some parts of the country[4]. They are also found in prisons at high percentage. They take a heavy toll on America’s Education, imprisonment, welfare, food stamps, and health care. Crime and terrorism; since aliens are not documented citizens of America; they are involved in various criminal activit ies which also include terrorism. Dangers to the illegal immigrants; aliens pass through a deadly process so as to gain entry into the U.S. If they survive the trip, they are either held hostage or get paid very little money for the job. The issue of illegal immigration is compounded when the aliens constitute a major segment of the labor force[5]. Housing standards usually decrease. In the recent past, the federal government has increased the housing standards. This has however led to the closure of work camps by the native out growers. Many growers usually evade legal responsibility for their living conditions thereby ending up hiring illegal immigrants. Solutions to illegal immigration to America Due to the large number of illegal immigrants in the U.S, the federal government has been compelled to find solutions that will solve this issue on a long term basis. As a result, there have been several opinions which have bee suggested that if put in place, they will help curb the vic e. Most of the illegal immigrants in the United States come from across its borders with the South American countries. It has been suggested that a fence should be erected along the U.S. Mexico border to prevent illegal immigration of people across this route. Deportation, amnesty, legalization of illegal immigrants and enforcement of existing legislature are also some of the suggestions aimed at stopping illegal immigration. This issue has continued to reverberate on the minds of the congressmen throughout the year 2005 to date. The following are some of the ways in which illegal immigrants can become legal Asylum applicants can prove their case and be legalized Workers who are not documented can find an employer who will sponsor them to gain a legal status. Relatives who reside illegally can also be sponsored when the fully confirm that they have been residing in America illegally. The federal government may also grant an amnesty which permits those who reside without proper docu mentations to become legal. In addition to this, the policies for legislation related to solutions to the problems of illegal immigration are formulated in line with various considerations. Thus family reunification and societal stability forms a strong factor worth consideration before deporting an illegal immigrant[6]. Conclusion Legal immigration in America is accompanied by introduction of new skills to the country. Other advantages include provision of labor and services which the U.S citizens reject. Legal immigrants do not cause negative economic effects to the country because they also pay taxes and a large percentage does not depend on food stamps. On the other hand illegal immigrants do cause a great harm to the American economy. This is because they take up jobs which were meant for the American at low wages. They bring with them various diseases which cause the health sector a substantial amount of money. Most of them engage in criminal activities and end up being jaile d. This also causes the government to spend a lot of money in the prison department. Illegal immigration in the U.S. should be checked because it causes the taxpayer a lot of money. Sir Robert Peel Essay Example

Sir Robert Peel Essay Example Sir Robert Peel Essay Sir Robert Peel Essay Sir Robert Peel Paper Sir Robert Peel, Britain’s home secretary felt that preventing crimes and reforming criminals would have a more positive effect on society rather than punishing them (Williams) 2003. This research paper will describe how policing was handled in the early centuries as opposed to policing in America today. This research paper will explain the impact that Sir Robert Peel had on American policing. In the early centuries criminals were punished quite differently. Up until the last two hundred years most societies relied upon citizens and communities to ensure that laws were upheld and criminals apprehended (Grant) 2008. When crimes were committed citizens and communities usually took the law in their own hands and decided what the punishment would be. According to Grant (2008), within early societies justice was typically an individual matter. As time went on different laws were passed to establish a more ordered justice system. The Code of Hammurabi and Vigiles were established as society became more complicated. The Code of Hammurabi took the power of punishment out of individual’s hands and made the law more consistent. Vigiles were used to keep the peace and investigate crimes. Different organizations were formed to help enforce the law. Shires, tithings, shire reeves, constables and posses were all systems of the law. These establishments were just the beginning of trying to develop a well organized justice system. After many years of trying to establish a system to help prevent criminal acts, there was still not a successful law enforcement act put in to place until the 1800’s. According to Grant (2008), Sir Robert Peel established London Metropolitan Police and eventually passed the London Metropolitan Act 1829 which provided funds for development of policing. Sir Robert Peel developed a set of principles that police officers should abide by that are still relevant intoday’s society. According to Grant (2008), these are the nine principles: (1) the basic mission for whom the police exist is to prevent crime and disorder; 2) the ability of the police to perform their duties is dependent upon public approval of police actions; their duties is dependent upon public approval of police actions; (3) police must secure the willing cooperation of the public in voluntary observance of the law to be able to secure and maintain the respect of the public; (4) the degree of cooperation of the public that can be secured diminishes proportionally to he necessity of the secured diminishes proportionally to the necessity of the use of physical force; (5) police seek and preserve public favor not by catering to public opinion, but by constantly demonstrating absolute impartial service to the law; 6) police use physical force to the extent necessary to secure observance of the law or to restore order only when the exercise of persuasion, advice and warning is found to be insufficient; (7) police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence; (8) police should always direct their action strictly towardstheir functions and never appear to usurp the powers of the judiciary; (9) the test of police efficiency is the absence of crime and disorder, not the visible evidence of police action in dealing with it. These principles are still being used in law enforcement today. Because of the Metropolitan Act and the nine principles that were established by Sir Robert Peel, law enforcers are easily recognized and respected. The principles make sure that law enforcers serve the citizens and communities to the best of their abilityFinally we understand the impact of Sir Robert Peel on American policing and its history. Sir Robert Peel’s main focus was to establish a system that would work for citizens as well as police. His principles are used by law enforcement in society. Sir Robert Peel established order within the justice system and made it easy for the public to cooperate when solving crimes. today’s
